Fine traditional skills are embodied in the hand-crafted harness worn by the caravan horse. 'Common' cart harness is used by us to attach the horse to the caravan. In bygone days the 'common' harness was used by ploughmen and cart-men.
The leather cart-harness we use is no longer manufactured and is specially fitted to suit each horse so you are asked to take good care of it. No part of the harness should trail on the ground - it will get walked on, get damaged and get dirty.
You will be given adequate instruction and practice in harnessing the horse before leaving on your horsedrawn caravan tour. Our instructor will demonstrate the correct fitting of the harness, and you will easily learn the skills involved.
